Single notes, ligatures and rests in white notation are given as theoretical illustrations, most examples are printed without notes.

Music has been added to the empty staves by hand, in Hufnagel notation. Notes on the title page have been partially cut on the top (including perhaps the name of a former owner). There are some glosses and additions between the lines in tiny handwriting.
