Cologne: Eucharius Cervicornus, 1519, vdm: 612
woodcut
Antiqua (Roman), Textura
Textura is used as a display font (titles of the acts) and the remaining text is printed in Antiqua. Cervicornus appears to have used the same woodblocks as vdm 611 to print the music. The quality of the musical notation is quite low. The first woodcut is especially poor; its notation is nearly illegible.
Mensural notation
full-length staves: 95 x 15.5 mm (Mortalium, A4r); 95.5 x 15.5 mm (Digna, A6r); 112 x 16 mm (Musis, A7r); 110 x 16 mm (Cedant, A8v)
The four musical examples are notated in two different ways. The first, third, and fourth examples are given in white mensural notation. The second example is given in black semibreves and breves (probably to indicate the choruses triple meter). The second comoedia starting on B4r does not give any musical notation.
dramatic chorus
Chorus at the end of each of the first four acts: Mortalium iocunditas volucris et pendula (A4r), Digna sunt Apolline (A5v), Musis poetis et sacro (A6v), Cedant fori contentio et iurgia (B2r).
