Mapping

A series of interactive maps linked to the vdm database have been developed in collaboration with the Department of Geoinformatics. The online mapping tools allow users to visualise the production of music prints in German-speaking lands from the 1470s to the mid-sixteenth century in both time and space. The maps can be used according to different parameters:

  1. All music prints (timespan) pictures the production of music prints in time. The chronological limits can be reset by the user.

  1. Clusters (location) shows the number of editions printed in various geographical areas. Complex filters can be set using various data categories.

  1. Heatmap (filter) visualises the production of music prints over time in various cities filtered by source type, confessional identity, or printing technique.

  1. VDM Maps Dashboard offers the option to discover relationships between specific research data by dynamically linked charts and maps. .

  1. Categories of music prints (single) indicates the cities where music prints were produced over a given time period, filtered by source type, confessional identity, or printing technique.

  1. Categories of music prints (multiple) presents the production of music prints in various cities over time. Complex filters can be set using various data categories.

  1. Downloads offers the data of the research project in several different formats. It also provides specific web services to work with the data individually.
